Request Access Control Devices


Units can request electronic access control devices for doors of the facilities and spaces they manage. Follow the process below to request access devices:

  1. Unit representative completes online Work Request in Maximo.
  2. A security assessment of the affected area is completed and reviewed by the Office of Public Safety to approve recommended security device changes. An on-site visit is to be scheduled within two weeks of receiving the initial request and the written assessment is to be completed within two weeks of the site visit. A copy of the final report will be provided to the requesting unit.

  3. With approval from Public Safety, Locks, Access and Security Technology Services (LASTS) determines scope of work, collaborating as needed with Facilities, Planning and Development, KU Information Technology and Facilities Services.

  4. If the project can be completed internally, an estimate is prepared and shared with the requesting unit. If it is determined that outside vendors are needed, LASTS organizes competitive bids to be reviewed and selected by the requesting unit.
